Boats and Birds ~ Gregory And The Hawk
Day fades, to night. Slow rainbow, streaks. Across, the blue. Fades, to black. Moon, in shadow. Winks, conspiratorial. Bound in darkness, the galaxy. And its ladder, of stars. Preserved, in diamond fire: truth.
“ here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart) ”
~ e.e. cummings

I live to let you shine…
After that lovely dusk, comes this night time sky, and lines from e.e. cummings who happens to be one of my favourite poets. What a treat for me
He’s a long time favourite of mine too, Peter. Was look for the ‘I love the stars too much to fear the night” quote, but stumbled on this instead… so: kismet! Written in the stars… such a magical night here tonight. Crystal clear and calm. About to head back outside for a cup of tea and stargazing…
I love the way the depth slowly appears as your eyes adjust from the ‘glare’ of the moon. It’s a delight to feel night embracing us as it puts the day to rest.
As intimate as a lover’s embrace, as soulful and as deep. So enjoyed experimenting with light and exposure – finally got the balance right. Love how the longer you look, the more stars start to appear out of the gloaming. Thanks for you kind words John… I’m hoping to see a buzzard in your tree before spring 🙂
Oh, LOVE love love this! What an absolutely beautiful capture.
And your friend John’s comments are fitting as well as poetic, too.
Thank you Victoria! Was so thrilled it came out as I saw it: a little love affair between Venus and the moon. The two brightest shining midnight stars… John’s got a beautiful way with words. And images…
This is such a perfect photo. I love everything about it. “Bound in darkness, the galaxy. And its ladder, of stars. Preserved, in diamond fire”
This line says so much. I love anything that has to do with imagery involving, or conversation about the galaxy or the universe etc. It’s so enchanting. It’s absolutely beautiful. Once again, this is amazing! Keep it up.
I’m utterly bewitched by the night sky, stars, the universe… have been since I was a child. A few weeks ago, long past midnight when the moon was new so there was little light to dull the star, I lay on my back staring up at the Milky Way as it stretched across the heavens and was so overcome by the sheer beauty… that exists every night, whether we stop to savour it. Or not. How lucky we are…
And thank you Aiden, as always. Your words and comments are a gift. As your your magical photographs! Lots of love, Bx
Hello, really enjoyed browsing your blog. Love the photos, love the words and love the concept! Thanks for visiting Hush recently and thanks for posting one of my favourite poems!
Thank you so much for visiting, climbing along and taking time out to comment… always a pleasure to connect over the ether nets… lots of love, Bx
nicely done! thank you for visiting!
Thanks Heather, likewise 🙂
Reblogged this on hangingfromthejoshuatree and commented:
The poem is of the simple kind which yet holds an ability to pierce the heart. Humanity and love, hope and grief, acceptance and withdrawal. And the picture is of the magical realist kind, very beautiful…
Thank you for the reblog and kind words, Torrun. Have you read much ee cummings? He’s a great poet… this is only an extract, and he has many many deeply moving and melodic works. Sending you love and creative joy from Afrika, Bx
To be honest – no sadly I haven’t. My focus area though has been of another poet with a similar temper (yet with his own differences of thought processes) which is Yeats.
I shall though read upon E E Cummings’ works rest assured, I normally don’t reblog others posts even if I normally like them, reblogs are meant for those posts which really hit a chord with me 🙂
Oh!! Then I am so happy to have introduced you to Mr Cummings – he’s amazing! As is Yeats. So glad post, poets and picture resonated with you. I want, more than anything, for people climbing here to feel moved, in whichever way. Proof of life. And love. Love from oak to joshua tree, Bx
