one hundred and six degrees: ‘before the fears…’

If This Is It ~ Newton Faulkner

one hundred and six

Leaves slick, with rain. Dew, of sadness. I have no, idea how. To feel. About, the broken. Egg, spilled. Like milk. Once we, lay together. Gentle, embrace. Your L shaped, red sofa. Quietly listening, to music. Your choice, revealed. Too much. This song, in particular. Whispered, truth. Your beating, heart. Too afraid, to fall. To trust, to be seen. You rose, and switched. Chose another, tune.

The more I read these lines, the more they speak to me.

“You rose, and switched. Chose another, tune.”

I love the way the puctuation adds layers to the meaning

Thank you so much for seeing the rhythm and opening yourself to the poetry behind the punctuation, Peter. When I was at school, I hated its rigidity and rules but now I’ve come to really enjoy playing with the images it conjures by simply creating space… Really appreciate your insightful reading of these posts, I can feel you actively listening! Which is such a blessing… Lots of love from the Overberg, Bx
