There Is A Light That Never Goes Out ~ The Smiths

thirty six

Child, stands before a blazing bonfire. Watch gunpowder and catherine wheels sparking, night’s belly ripped to tinsel threads. Ferry an effigy, intention to burn. Human being! Old man of mount dragon, fired up to flame. Defiant sobs, pleading. Deaf adults, with blind hands. Young girl, hysteria. No one wants to hear.

Grown, from a funeral. Marooned between lives, so set to wander. You give me a song, explaining. He spins another, version of the same. Demanding death, a trophy head. Mind laid bare, to shatter. Heart wrenched clear, to bleed. Scarlet rivers running, stain tiles of murderous white. Systematic butchery, the gilded killing cage. Young woman, hysterical. No one wants to hear…

This small blood drum, beating. To resurrect, with yours.

Well , the pleasure, the privilege is mine…

There needs to be a series of buttons that exist, like emoticons, that express the depth of emotion evoked beyond smilies and frowns. The button I want to click for this one pours out the sandy depths of my soul onto sticky paper and uses it to grind down years of apathy.

Ah Erik, from the depths of your soul to mine, I thank you. There’s a gift in passing through such a fire, the likes of which Freud could never touch… remember, remember the fifth of November.
